Yesterday afternoon it began raining and it has kept at it ever since. I am afraid it will continue all during examination week.

Examination week is upon us!

Tomorrow ushers in the five days plague in which fears, and worryings, and nervous exhaustion and palpitations of the heart will be the chief lot of this College humanity. "Exams." or "exes," as we lovingly call them, will sail through the week like a pirate vessel, with a skull-and-cross bones at its mast and destruction at its prow. If you have strength enough to breast the waves and swim out beyond the path of the vessel, you are safe; if you are sucked in by the eddying waters of its wake, you are lost - until the next "ex." These examinations are the most important of the year, speaking in unfigurative language.
