My dear Mamma:-

Sunday night and a letter: here goes!

How did the Vermonters' go off? Who had charge of the hat-rooms - how much was he paid - was enough saved from his wage to enable me to go to San Francisco in the near future?

All day Friday I labored and Saturday, but I could not do much on Sat. I was simply too tired to work. To day I have been off on a pleasant bike ride and to morrow I can begin work fully refreshed.

A curious incident occurred during the last 72 hours. A bosom friend of mine, a member of our literary society, was made the proud father of an 8 pound boy. Yesterday he called on me to relate the news. He was
