My dear mother:

Sunday, and letters! This morning I wrote to a friend in Guayaquil, Ecuador. He is an old member of our Literary Society. He was commissioned by the great British Museum of London to collect scientific specimens for their collection in South America. Dr. Jordan honored him by selected him as the msot available man to undertake the task.

Fred. Warde visited the University last Friday and gave us a talk on Shakespeare. It was an excellent speech and well attended. The Chapel was packed, jammed; and, as usual, a female had to interrupt the proceedings by fainting. This fainting by the ladies so as to be resuscitated by masculine hands, is getting to be
