to influence the people to vote for the amendment. The Call is against the movement and is doing all it can to defeat the bill. We who love our Alma Mater will do all we can to overcome the senseless and unreasonable and unfair opposition to this act. Berkeley, I believe, is jealous of the great position which Stanford will occupy in the event of the passage of the amendment. A U.C. regent - an enemy to that progress and culture which he ought to represent - had the unkindness to vote against the proposition in the Legislature. This biased, ungenerous act reveals a meaness of spirit prompted only by envy and ignorance. Stanford is deservedly angry with the attidue which Berkeley has assumed in this uphill struggle of ours.
