My dear mother:

Last week has been full of excitement and hilarity. For some time after Saturday night the boys could not discuss the undeserved decision upon the Debate without a generous contribution of bad words. But our regrets were soon forgotten in the great success of our fellows in stealing the big C fence right under the very noses of the Berkeleyites. Our men drove around the bay in a wagon struck the U.S. campus at 3 in the morning, and in 25 minutes had pulled up and packed in the wagon the Senior C of the Class of '98. The drive back to Stanford was a long and weary one and full of fear to the men. They did not
