My dear mother:

The University has opened, the students are all back, we have moved into our Chapter House and all the boys have fixed up their rooms & have settled down to business.

I like my room very much. It is not a large room, but very cosy. It gets sunlight & air from two windows, & as it is a corner room the view is unsurpassed. I am well satisfied with my surroundings, the only possible objection to be urged is the distance from the University. A wheel, however, reduces the apparent remoteness of the place & a brisk ten minute ride carries us to our classes in the morning.

I want you to send down to me a note book which I left at home in my haste. It is a green stiff cloth covered book 10 in. long & 5 1/2 in. wide. It has my name in it & contains the Bibliography of my
