Dear Folks,
Just a quick note in response to your wonderful letter
of today (only four days, and only 3! from Stanford). It
was sure a wonderful letter Mom, and very much appreciated.

Mainly I'm concerned about the photos taking, I really
would like the people mentioned to be able to keep in touch with
my experiences etc. and I just don't have time to write any
more letters (besides in one letter a quarter I couldn't say
anything). The second problem is that it is too expensive
to write on only one side or to use larger paper. I've already
used up 6 D.M. ($1.50) worth of stamps alone, partly from
writing almost everyday to Anne of course! So I have an
alternative idea. Could you type up on large heavier paper a
copy of my letters to send photostatic copys of it around. The darn
postage rates go up so fast for overweight over here that I think
this is more practical. And if this O.K. how about doing it for
my first letters to, so people are up to date from the beginning.
See, even if you missed out on term papers you don't get off
scot free. But at least my letters are shorter.

The other item of news is that I finally went into Stuttgart
today to buy a camera and I'm very pleased with the results -
and ADOX Polomat camera with an excellent lense (1:2.8 to be
technical), built in light meter, all the necessary settings and controls
and a fine shutter (as fast as 1/500 sec., time exposure, and self-timer
which gives you 10 seconds delay to get into the picture yourself). Besides
the camera I got all the necessary accessories - flash attachment,
sunlight filter, sunshade, leather carrying case for all. And the
