Roble - House. Nov. 19 - '96.

My precious Nannie -

I must stop before I
read another line of Chaucer to tell
you how ecstatic I was a few
minutes ago when I found the
package at the post office - I really
[illegible] youu possess some occult
query god [illegible]; for I had
been contemplating suggesting that
what I most wanted for my birthday
was a pair of knit slippers as I went
bare foot to the cold bath every morning
and lo! and behold! beofre I had written
it to you, came your letter telling
that my wish was already in process
of fulfillment, and to-day the slippers
are here. Thank you so much my
dearest Nannie. It was so thoughtful
of you to send my birthday present
before time just when I wanted it so
much
. Have just written to Mrs. Myrick
telling her I had given up going to the
Thanksgiving game & Theodora &
I had planned to spend the recess
here with Theodora. She wanted us to,
get up a party for her to chaperone
