The minutes were read and approv
ed. Of the readers Mary M. Miller had for
-gotten her appointment so was re-appointed
for next meeting. W. B. Farquhar read an
article on the culture of water melons, the
hills to be 8 x 10 feet apart, low, flat
hills; make a hole a foot deep into which
put manure; when the plants are a few
inches high, mulch with straw a foot
deep. An instance was given of a pump
-kin which grew out of a straw rick
and bore 400 pumpkins, a wagon load

A letter to our President from Sarah
T. Miller was read, asking our assistance
to the cause of Temperance; she proposed
that each member donate a pot plant
which should be sold at our fall Exhibi
-tion. It was discussed and no serious ob
jection raised. All willing to help the cause.
