cription of the place, with its surf bathing
pine woods, market gardens magnolia
and fine Hotel. He also told us of a method
by which we might revive failing peach
orchards. Apply wood ashes and mulch
with leaves and for a new one he re
-commended us to try newly cleared
land; he had heard that in some places
a place was cleared in the woods the
peach trees planted, and produced fine
fruit.

The striped bug has been very des-
tructive at some places, and snuff
put on with a pepper box after evry
rain recommended.

Of the readers, Charles Farquhar read
an article advising us to feed our
plants instead of dosing them; and
that potash was especially adapted
to acid fruits. Edith Hallowell had
forgotten her appointment. Francis
Stabler brought an article by Mr Saun
ders of the Dep. of Ag., "How to make
a lawn which was read and highly
approved by most of those present.
