Meeting called to order. All
families except Falling Green, Long-
wood, White Hall Riverside and Sharon
represented; our guests were Eliza N. Ben
-tley Patty Farquhar Mary C. Brooke &
daughter, Debbie & Nannie Reese, Al
-bina Stabler Eliza Miller and Miss Gove.[?]

There were many complaints of
the weather, no rain having fallen in
September and yet all reported gard
ens in flourishing condition, owing
to the copious July rains; our President
reported the Horticultural Exhibition
as the most successful we had ever
had, all departments being equally
well attended to; the tax on the Socie
-ty would be .40¢ per family.

The rapid growth of figs in
Georgia was mentioned; a slip
would bear fruit in two years. The
Japanese persimmon also very suc
-cessful. Our reader Belle Miller
gave us an article on drought; the
next year after a drought is always
fertile, so we shall expect the coming
year to be very fruitful.
