Riverside

Notwithstanding the dull evening
and bad roads, there was a large
meeting and a good display of flowers
fruits and vegetables. The only absent families
were those from Longwood and
Norwood. Our guests were Mary W. Kirk
Sarah Kirk, Charles Kirk, Richard and
Edith Bentley, Thomas Lea, Martha Lea,
Dr. Iddings, Dora Iddings, Ellie Chandler
Hallie Lea George and Annie
Stabler, Dr. Green and Richard Lea

The minutes were read & approved
Those of our last meeting, which was at
Norwood, brought to our minds the loss
we had sustained of our hostess of that
evening. She had been ill in the summer
and away for several months. After returning
home, she thought herself well enough
to have her meeting of our society
She looked better than we expected to see
her, and especially lovely as we bade
her good-bye, but "over all there hung
the shadow of a fear." One month
later we followed her to her last rest
-ing place. Our President in his open
-ing remarks spoke feelingly of our loss.

The specimens were good; from
Sharon lettuce and flowers.
