Questions

1 Is it safe to trim a hedge this time of
year and how much? Cut down to 1 1/2 ft

2 What time plant out celery? Middle of Aug.

3 Is it too late to plant out tomato plants? No

4 Has any one raised Wyandotte chickens
and why are they valuable? They
lay more eggs but are less healthy than others

5 What is the best time to sow turnip seed?
Middle of August to 1st of September.

6 Is it best to sow turnip seed broadcast
or drill it? No advantage in drilling

7 Is it too late to plant sugar corn? No

8 How much later than this will it pay to
set hens? A little later.

9 Is it too late to plant cabbage? No.

Two lots of tomatoes were planted the same
day, one in hills 6 in. high & the other in low
ground and it was noticed those in hills ripened
much the sooner of the two. It was the opinion
of some that the Conquer Tomato ripened earlier than
others. Robert Stabler described a cheap fruit evaporator
costing about $1.50 and very successful.

After looking at the garden and admiring the beautiful
oak tree back of the house we adjourned to meet at Brooke Grove
