Questions

1 A young apple orchard, all the
trees of which except two, are bearing
well; should those two be dug
up or grafted? Try grafting

2 Is it desirable to trim in autumn
such rose bushes has have grown lux
-uriantly? Trimming after the first bloom
is generally sufficient, as the winter
trims them. Trim into shape early
before the leaves come and again
after their first blooming.

3 Is there any report to make of poul
-try? The poultry has not been remark
-able in any way this summer. None
of our members have tried incuba
-tors. A guest says the farmers
near New York who use incubators
hatch chickens in December and
sell when large enough to broil
at $1.00 per lb.

4 Should Japan lillies be divided
when very crowded? Yes.

5 What is the proper soil for winter
plants? Rich compost, old hot bed
