Dr. Magruder tried budding a maple
with buds from a tree at Fair Hill which
turns a brilliant red in autumn. If they
succeed we will know how to procure brilliant
foliage among our shade trees in autumn

Is there any other name for the "smoke
house" apple? none that we know.

In our walk we admired the
wire fence around the beautiful flower garden.
