1 When should roots of Lily of the Valley
be brought in for winter blooming? Cut a
sod late in the fall, and keep in
the cellar; bring it up about one month
before the flowers are wanted and give
water and light

2 Is it well to trim roses in the fall.
Yes, they are thought to stand the winter
better

3 How turn hard cider, a year old, to
vinegar? Try putting in vinegar "Mother"

4 Would November be a suitable time to
trim an orchard? Better leave till Spring

5 A grape vine split - where two branches
started? cut off one or both? One

6 Is it advisable to prepare a bed
for roses in the fall? Yes.

7 What do to cabbage which is heading
but is somewhat eaten by worms?
Salt water, ice water, soap suds
and sulphur all mentioned as remedies

8 How manage a "Marechal Neil" which
will not bloom? Don't trim it: give
a dose of lime and "hope on".
