Various experiements which have been
tried, seem to prove - nothing.

The curculio seems to have yeilded
to treatment at some places , John
Bentley tried fumes of sulphur - Frances
Stabler tried a strong wash of wormwood
and the damsons look well. S. Hopkins
grass[ia?] and tobacco and his
trees are full of plums.

A rain prevented our going into the
gardens. The beds of Coleus and boxes of flowering
plants on the porch were greatly admited

Alloway may now be pronounced finished!
It would not seem possible to improve its
present condition, did we not rememeber the
active and fertile brain of our hostess
