Walla Valley, telling of its wonderful climate
fruits and vegetables, R. E. Gilpin read a
treatment for black rot of grapes, Mary
Stabler a short poem, "Loving looks"
Fran[ca]s Stabler sent an article on the Curculis
by Mr. Winn Gunn of Shelbyville, Kentucky
He had tried putting waste wool around
melon vines to capture the striped bug and
finding it successful had concluded to try it
around his plum trees. He removed the grass
around the stem of the tree for about a foot
and spread "trash wool around and wrapt
some around the forks of the tree. He caught
many and on that tree had an abundant
crop. He continued it for years and had
healthy and abundant crops.

1 How did Roger Farquhar raise such
salsify as he brought to this meeting? It was
planted as usual and worked with a horse
He thinks the wet summer of last year made
it grow so well.

Rachel Gilpin recommends the Sandwich
Island salsify as being much larger
than the common kind and equally good

2 Is it too late to plant tulip bulbs. It
would be better to plant them now than
have them spoil but the Fall is the best time
