Is it well to mow off the tops of strawberry
plants? Some persons mow if there
is rank growth but it is best not to
mow a young bed

When set out blackberry plants?
In the spring, sawdust is said to be
a good mulch for them

When plant spinach for winter use?
Late in August or in September.

Dr. Kirk exhibited a head of cabbage
hard enough for slaw which was
one of eight which grew on one
stalk after the first head had been
cut off.

A member tried putting ashes around
a quince tree and the result was a
better crop.

There was a marked decrease in
the number of rose slugs and rose bugs
at many places.

Sarah Lea offered to supply the society
with seeds of a pumpkin which keeps
until May.

In our walk we saw a good and well
filled vegetable garden, fine rose bushes and
a large bed of sand where the little human
