plants? Some persons mow if there
is rank growth but it is best not to
mow a young bed

a good mulch for them
When plant spinach for winter use?
Late in August or in September.
Dr. Kirk exhibited a head of cabbage
hard enough for slaw which was
one of eight which grew on one
stalk after the first head had been
cut off.
A member tried putting ashes around
a quince tree and the result was a
better crop.
There was a marked decrease in
the number of rose slugs and rose bugs
at many places.
Sarah Lea offered to supply the society
with seeds of a pumpkin which keeps
until May.
In our walk we saw a good and well
filled vegetable garden, fine rose bushes and
a large bed of sand where the little human
flowers flourish. Next meeting at Edgewood
