In our walk we found the flower
garden extemely dry - A South
exposure and few rains. A few
roses and dahlias were blooming
The vegetable garden had been
very satisfactory. There were still
plenty of Lima beans and tomatoes
and winter vegetabes looked well
as did the long row of Raspberry
vines which had been trimmed and
tied to a wire.
Our hostess showed the circumference
of one of the big trees
of California, by a string . When
we formed a circle with it on the
lawn it was hard to realize that a
tree could be so large
