With the mercury varying with
locality from 88o to 92o we assembled
on the shady lawn of Edgwood. Absent
Longwood, Norwood, Cloverlea, Woodburn
and Stanmore. Guests Harriet Kirk
Albina, Pattie, Caleb and Robert Stabler
Emilie Brooke Elizabeth Stabler, Frank
and Mary Taylor.
The specimens
Rockland sweet potatoes, carrots, salsify
parsnips, tomatoes, Lima beans quinces
pears and flowers
The Cedars, egg-plant, tomatoes red & yellow
pears, quinces and flowers
Edgewood pears, quinces and flowers
Falling Green sweet potatoes, 12 from one hill
Lima beans (dwarf) and sweet corn
Hermon flowers.
Brooke Grove water melon parsnips
carrots, salsify and celery
No remarkable success with poultry
to record. Gapes had been very destructive
at some places. Gapes are said to
be produced by a parasite of the angle
