for the questions which were a follows

Questions
1. How shall a strawberry bed be cleared
of chickweed which is over running
it? It should be pulled or hoed
out. The beds should be made in
clean land and kept as clean as
possible.

2 Were those who raised quinces as much
bothered by blight as usual? There
seemed a difference of experience. Hanging
bags of salt on the branches was
suggested as a possible remedy

3 What should be used on roses, raw
or dissolved bone? Dissolved bone.

4 Would putting sods on rose beds stiffen
the soil? This is not known, but
the addition of a rich clay was recommeded

5 How shall roses which are looking
badly be fertilized ? Use nitrate of Soda
and bone dust in the spring and mulch
with manure in the summer, a tablespoon
