We assembled near the appointed

quantites of flowers till late autumn

beeswax which causes screws or nails to

the experiment with some of the
common kinds of roses; the bed was
ashes, mulched with straw and watered
with soap suds. After a repetition
of the treatment they were
scarcely recoganizable; so vigorous was
the growth and so fine the flowers.
