crops for orchards" 2nd Ellen Farquhar
on "cutting lawns too close. Volunteer by
Dr. Kirk Grape culture. Hard wood ashes
1/2 bushel to a vine excellent for them
Prune any time after the leaves fall
cutting away 2/3 of the wood. Summer
pruning of use to improve the shape
and take of surplus shoots - Taking off
leaves to let the light in should not be
done. In pruning aim to have the
greatest number of bearing shoots in the
smallest space - In marketing it is a
good plan lay cotton between the layers
of grapes. One of the enemies of grapes
is the apple borer. Spray with Bordeaux
mixture once in fifteen days when the
vines are not in bloom.
