method of raising cucumbers was
described and several members will try
it: A hole a spade deep is made
rich earth put in and the seeds
planted and a pane of glass put
over. As the plants grow the hole
is filled up gradually, until even
with the top. Take the glass off in
the hot part of the day, putting it
on at night. The Forethought report
also reminded us to use ashes for
cucumbers, melons, squash, and tomato
plants. Clear weeds out of strawberry
beds early.
