1st Reader Mrs. Davis, read "Novelties
of the graft" Picturesque as well as
profitable results from the process.
2nd Anna Nesbitt, read of the poisonous
effects of various blooms and
odors of plants, the poppy and others
and a surprising statement that "all
flowers grown from bulbs are dangerous
in rooms where there is illness."
Hyacinths, Lillies of the valley, tuberoses
and narcissus should be avoided
Primmula obconica is poisonous to handle
The Belladonna or deadly nightshade
sometimes causes blindness, and yet
the tincture is used in paralysis of
the iris in the early stages. Lilies
rhododendrons and begonias and
peonies cause festers and sometimes
loss of fingernails."
