We assembled about noon and every
family was represented excepting that
from Norwood. The minutes were read
and approved.
1st Reader of selected articles, Mary
Magruder, read "Bulbs as house plants"
Plant - 1st of October for Christmas or
New Years flowers; when brought to the
window, after making good root -growth
in the dark, give plenty
of moisture; they do not need much
sunshine, and are better in a cool
room, than kept too warm. After
blooming, set the bulbs out in the
garden at the proper time and
have new bulbs for another winter
2nd reader, Mrs. Pilling, for Sarah Kirk
"Plant battles" how they defend themselves,
by developing thorns etc.
Volunteer E. L. Idings, Unusual
names for plants Mr. Bluck of
Bermuda read extracts from a
description of the American show
in New York. Fruits were very fine
