Secretary, to be had on application.

Margaret B. Magruder was next
called upon to read the synopsis
of "The History the Horticultural Society"
which she had been appointed to
to prepare. This she has done so
succesfully and been so fortunate in
selecting salient and interesting features
of the growth of the society from its
informal beginning until the present
that we found it delightful reading.
The account was brought down to
1872 to be carried on at the next
meeting

Following this the only discordant
note of the day was struck
when Mrs. Fanney tendered the resignation
of "Longwood" from the Horticultural.
The deep silence which followed
was far more eloquent than many
words would have been of the sincere
sorrow and regret of all.
