April Sunday 4th 1880

Genuine April day: clear, cloudy,
showery gusts etc. Drove to Knight's
and to C Hammond Jr's. his infant
son died about 4 this a.m. convulsions
from "Hydrocephalus". Drove
hard to escape a heavy rain on
my way home. Wrote to Charley &
Dora directing to Oxford.
Bro: Richard & Charles & Lizzie called
on way home from Sharon & Fulford.
I loaned them the "Germantown"
as it rained & they were driving in
their "Wagonette" & thought they
must get home before night.

Monday 5th

Drove to Ashton. Bro R brought
home the "Germantown" and
a plank from Ashton for me.
Afternoon I drove H & the two
little boys to Fulford.
Susan Carter here with her
boy for advice etc.
Commenced digging in garden.

April Tuesday 6th 1880

Drove "Germantown" to Wm. S Bond's
and had a settlement with him
and got 50lbs "IXL" Fertilizer
for garden. Went to Smith shop
to get dash altered for Germantown"
wagon. Also cut out curtains
for same & got windows
for it. Lucy Stabler here to
call.

Wednesday 7th

Jno Bentley here to borrow the "Germantown".
I went to work & put new curtains and
top on it etc working hard to finish it
in time for him, but he did not
come for it. I could not quite finish
it however, so it was well he did
not need it. Afternoon Henry
Butler brought his horses & wagon
& spread manure on the lot &
is to plow it for me tomorrow if
the weather permits. E Chalfont
here to tea & to spend the night
with Willie. Gilpin Stabler
here after tea.
