May Sunday 30th 1880

Cloudy & threatning early in the
morning. Charley's 20th, birthday.
He took cousin Hannah
Chandlee home taking Dora &
Willie with him in the " Germantown."
They did not get home
until about 2 p.m having
gone to Leawood Mills to
"paddle" in the water leaving
Dora at Riverside until on
their way home. Rained
most of the day. After tea
Charley went to Mrs. Scotts.

Monday 31st

Went to Wm J Scofield's to Jno:Ed:
Hills & to Brighton before noon.
Afternoon Juliana Bond here
for advice &c for her daughter, and
Evaline Wallace for herself.
Sent for to attend Laura Owens
about tea time. After tea Charley
went to a musical practice
at "Falling Green."

June Tuesday 1st

Called again last night to attend
Laura Owings and her boy was
born at ten minutes after midnight
this a.m. Reached home at
1:30 a.m. Charley about half an
hour ahead of me. Messenger after
me before breakfast from Owing's. Went
there in light buggy (taking Willie with
me) thence to Harriet Jackson's (via
Holland's corner) and home past "Norbeck,"
up the Brookville turnpike &
past Rockland. Afternoon walked
up to the store. Went to James
Marlow's & dressed a wound in
his left wrist- Commenced
raining about dusk & continued
throughout the evening.

60 Raining S.E.
Wednesday 2nd

Rained most of last night
and all this morning.
Wash woman here. Afternoon
I drove (in Germantown) down
to Ashton and to "Fulford."
Cleared off about 4 o' clock.
So cold that we had fire
in both dining room and parlor.
Walter Scott & Geo Miller
here in evening. After the
store closed Charley went
"serenading" with Ernest &
some others - Marryatt
here in the evening & had tooth
extracted.
