July Thursday 1st 1880

Hitched up to the "omnibus" and
drove to Ashton & home Bro:Chas:
called Lewellen Massey called
with lame horse. Rained hard
in the afternoon & evening.
Ernest came & hitched to the "Germantown"
to take Charley Fry &
wife from Ashton to Riverside but
found they had gone past Ashton
in a Milstead team & he came
back through pouring rain, put up
the horses & staid all evening.

Friday 2nd

Took Harriet with me & drove
to "Homewood" where I left her to
visit the Kummer family & her aunt
Elena who arrived there yesterday.
I drove on to Riverside to see Chas:
Frey Iddings & wife who also
came yesterday together with Mrs
Jno: Jacobson nurse & three children
& a Miss "Lila Smith".
Afternoon I went to Jno King's to
prescribe for sick infant. Eustace
Lawford took tea here after which
he & Charley went to Riverside.

July Saturday 3rd 1880

Quite cool & pleasand. Alf:
Fairall Esq here for me to go to
Patrick Cuff Jr's to investigate
the case of the drowning of his
wife who (in our opinion) accidentally
fell into the "draw well" in
the night: going for some fresh water,
the handle or crank of the draw
probably struck her head & she fell
into the well head foremost.
Afternoon went to T Budd's shop &
superintended the cutting of one
of the tires of the open buggy.

Sunday 4th

Beautiful day - Charley went
to Mahlon Chandlee's & took
Tacy Matthews to meeting. afternoon
we all went to "Riverside"
and called at "Homewood".
After tea Willie & I walked
to Ashton & Charley went to
"Fulford".
