Alice & Mrs Kummer before we
had breakfast. Wm J Scofield here
for advice. Saul Ellicotts carriage
came from Marz. Ernest
came & got our carriage.

Saturday 10th
Extremely hot day drove to Leawood
Mills & Riverside in the
"omnibus" taking all with me
had a little "Picnic" on River
came home in the Germantown.

July Sunday 11th 1880
"Hot" & sultry. Charley & I
went to N Fulford & thence
to Riverside where we dined
Dora, Tacy, & Millie went to
meeting. Mrs Knight here
for advice, also Mrs Jacobson
for her infant. Charley took
Dora & Tacy on drive in the
afternoon. I have been
suffering much with a
swolen & painful face &
"jaw". & cannot sleep or
rest.

Monday 12th
"Hot" and even hotter than
yesterday. feel much better than
for some days past, but face much
swolen still & very sore. Henson
Johnson here & "fixed" the pump
before breakfast. Mrs Ernest Lawford
brought servant man "Warner Holland"
& I lanced an abcess on his leg.
Charley took Tacy Matthews over to
Albert Chandlee's after tea.
Today has been oppressively hot
and we are beginning to feel weak
and prostrated from the continued
hot days & nights.
