August Thursday 26th

Quite cool. MrsCassell
called for advice etc. & to pay her
bill. Drove to Ashton for some
medicines. Afternoon took
Harriet, Willie & Edwd & drove to
Mr John Thomas' for peaches &
to Homewod to bid goodbye to
the Kummers, who leave for home
on Saturday. Bro: Chas came
& took Dora to Riverside for a
little visit. Charley staid at
home in the evening.

Friday 27th

Joshua Sedgewick here for advice
& medicine. Went to Jeff & Hi"
Hopkins. Saul Bond brought my
watch home from Balto: where it
had been to have chain mended.
Afternoon Charley went in buggy
to Brooke home & N Fulford.
Home 15 minutes after midnight.

Saturday 28th

Drove to Riverside taking little
Edward with me & brought Dora
home with us. Jefferson & Hiram
Hopkins teamhauled us 1 3/4
cords of pinewood. Afternoon
I went in buggy to Ashton & got
another box of peaches for canning.
Willie spent afternoon at Mr
Scofield's. Got Horseboots for "Count".
Walked up to store after tea.
Two men sent from Sandy Spring to
Rockville Jail today, one for stealing
pears & threatening to shoot the owner
& one for stealing corn from Ed Hill
with two "camp meetings" in "full
blast". After the store shut up
Charley went "serenading" with
Bentley & Walt: Scott to Rockland
etc. Home at 2 o'clock Sunday
morning

Sunday 29th

Marth Robinson (colored) called
me up at 5 o'clock to prescribe for
her child. Wm Johnson's wife also
in with her child. Charley slept
until 2 p.m. when we had a
"pie & watermelon" dinner. After
which Harry Lea called & took
him over to the colored "camp".
They got back in time to escape
a ducking from a gust which
came up before dark and will
drench the hundreds who are
in the camp or on their way home.
They have been passing since 3. o' clk
this morning.
