September Friday 3rd 1880

Took Dora and Alice with the
wreath's over to the Lyceum, and
then went to Leawood Mills to see
Bro: Richard. called at Homewood
and brought cousins Ellie and Annie
home with us calling at Bloomfield
on the way. Exhibition
and annual meeting of Horticultural
Society at the Lyceum building.
Afternoon we all went to Lyceum
it was too warm for pleasure.
Went to see F Clark twice. Cousins
Ellie, Annie and Alice dined with us.
Annie went home with Helen B Lea. Ellie
with Edwd Lea and Alice with Isaac
Hartshorne's folks. We are all used
up
with the heat, excitement, bustle
and fatigue headaches and after tea
Charley went to N Fulford with J Bentley.

SW 70o Clear
Saturday 4th

Sister B called. Went in phaeton
to Leawood Mills and brought Bro: R
to Riverside and left him there.
Went to see F Clark and E Chalfont
here and had tooth extracted and dined
here. Exceedingly hot day.

Sunday 5th

Charley went to Harewood
and brought home a young horse of
Arthur Stabler's for us to try. we
drove him with "Count" to Riverside
to see Bro: Richard who seems to
be gaining slowly. Afternoon I
went to see Fletcher Clark.
Ernest came over and he and Charley
took a drive with "Count" and the
Stabler colt to the open buggy
out to the colored camp ground
and thence via Mechanicsville to Brookville
and home past S Elllicott's and
with us. After which I walked
up to Fletcher Clark's and the store
with Charley and Willie.

75 Cloudy and Clear SW
Monday 6th

Drove with horses (in light buggy)
to Riverside. Purchased Bay colt
"Major" of Arthur Stabler paying
him $50.00 in cash and giving two notes
of 37.50 each for six and nine mos:
respectively. The colt is represented
to be 4 years old last June.
I sent him to Marlows shop and
had a "wolfs tooth" taken out on
the right side upper jaw.
After tea Charley went to Brookville
Academy to a "Ball" home
at 1. o'clock past mid night
through the rain. Received and
answered a letter from S.D. Coale
in "Chicago".
