National Election day, Wm S
Bond here for advice &c I drove
to Mechanicsville to the election
taking Jonas D Carryatt with
me, also drove to "Ashton" &
Sandy Spring - Annie Rounds
ironed for Harriet. Charley drove
to Ashton at noon. "Major" much
improved can walk around quite
well. I had the pleasure of
voting for Winfield S Hancock for
the presidency of the U.S. and
also for "local option". After tea
Charley drove to Scotts' to "practice"
for the "musical"

Wednesday 3rd

Drove "Count" in phaeton to Fulford
& to Edwd P Thomas' forenoon
Afternoon drove to Fulford again
taken Willie with me & getting some
milk. Samuel Ellicott died
about 3 o'clock this afternoon.
I am much disappointed at the
Result of the presidential Election
having hoped "Hancock"
would have been Elected.

Drove to Edwd P Thomas' to see
Helen B Lea who seems rather better.
Afternoon sent Jonas to Fulford
with a note for Sister B and for
mil. Ernest dined with us
on his way home from Baltimore
where he had been to ship Bro: Wm's
horse "Denmark" for N.Y. Richard Jr
came over & took him home.
Rained most of the day especially
in the afternoon. Walked up to the
village & took "zinc wash" to Jno
Davis.

Friday 5th

Drove up to Fulford & extracted
tooth for Sister B - also to Ashton &c
Afternoon took Harriet to Riverside
and to "Cemetary" to Samuel Ellicotts'
funeral home about dusk -
Frank Gilpin here: he & Charley
went to Jos. T Moores' to "Musical"
home at 10.35 - Ed: Chalfant
staid all night with Willie
