Nov: Thursday 18th 1880

Raw disagreeable day. Sent
Jonas with "Count" in open buggy
for a drive around by Jno Bentley
& home via Ashton. Afternoon Charley
took a drive with "Major" to look
after hay - I finished up new
shafts for light buggy. Painted them
& put on the leathers. Isaac & Ellie
came over from Homewood in time
for dinner - Afternoon walked up to
the store with Isaac - Also walked
to Ashton by moonlight to see
Samuel Wetherald who is sick.

18° Clear & Cloudy E
Friday 19th

Sharp winter morning beautiful
& clear until afternoon when it
clouded up and looked & felt like
snow - Isaac & Ellie Wood left
for home intending to drive to
Baltimore today & or tomorrow.
Edith Bentley called & took Helen to
Bloomfield to dinner. Mary B Thomas
called, also Lucy Stabler for prescription
Jonas drove M B Thomas home late
in the afternoon. I drove to Ashton.
sent Jonas to exercise the horse in
forenoon. After night Charley took
both horses to open buggy & took Estelle
Tyson to "Alloway" to a "Musical".
Much against his parents wishes, as
it looks so like storm.
Home at 11_30p.m.

Saturday 20th 1880

Disagreeable winter day - Harry
took Willie to the Mill to spend
the day - Harriet cooking provisions
and getting things ready for Charleys'
share of the "Mountain trip" to
Virginia - Amanda Young here
for advice & med: Snow storm in
the afternoon. mixed with hail
& sleet. Jonas carried over ballance
of a shock of fodder from Jno Bentleys'
cornfield 23 bundles in all.

Sunday 21st

Beautiful winter morning -
was called up early by messenger from
Rush Roberts'. walked over to see
him after breakfast Charley drove
both horses & took his sister a long
ride before dinner. After dinner
he took Helen, Dora, & Harry in the
Germantown to the bone mill to
get some horns to make "hunting
horns" - Walked over to see B
Rush again about dusk.
