Ed: Davis (colored) here before
I ate my breakfast with punctured
wound in his hand. I drove both horses
to open buggy to Cornelius Leizears'
to see after wood. Afternoon John C
Bentley sent us a cord of oak wood.
Wash woman here. Willie shot a
Rabbit for the first time in his life.
"Nip" treed an opossum under
the saw mill. Richard I Lea here
before dinner. Received letter from S
D.C. Chicago. Charley went to a
company at N Fulfords, home at
11.30. Rained & sleeted in the night.

Dec: Wednesday 1st

Trees covered with sleet and
are exceedingly beautiful. R I Lea
called. Harry drove me to over to Sherwood
to see something about B R Roberts'
corpse. His funeral took place at 3
o'clock this afternoon and was large.
Loaned the "Germantown" to J C
Bentley together with "Count" to use
at the funeral. He kept it to take
some friends to Laurel tomorrow.
Bro Richard called. I went over to
"Harewood" & prescribed for friend
Nancy Stabler. Arthur having
come after me. Frank Frazier
(colored) here for advice & medicine.
Uncle Henson Hill here to dinner.
Annie Rounds ironed for Harriet.

Dec: Thursday 2nd 1880

Charley drove "Major" to Ashton
and to the Bone Mill for exercise.
I drove "Count" to Ashton &Ham
Johnsons. Cornelius Leizer Jr
hauled me a cord of pine wood
on his fathers' account. I cleaned
up & doped the double harness.
Harry took Helen and baby to Bloomfield
to dining. Jno C Bentley
brought them home afternoon.
I sent Jonas after Willie from
school. Jno Bentley sent me a
piece of venison. I sent Germantown
to Ents' shop to have axle mended
which he broke in taking some of
their friends to Laurel.

Friday 3rd

Willie walked to school & home.
I drove to Fulford & Ashton. Bought
a "dressed" hog and cut most of it
into sausage meat. Afternoon Miss
Lizzie Scott called & brought us a
nice leg of venison. I drove to Ashton
and got Willies shoes. Harry loaned
his horse & carriage to Moab White
to go to see Geo: Stabler. Thos Lea
dined here. Harry went down to
the mill afternoon. After tea
Charley went to the "musical" at
Brooke Grove taking someone from
"Rockland" home at 11-p.m.
