Dec: Monday 20th 1880

Commenced snowing about
9 o'clock a.m. & continued more
or less throughout the day. Charley
went to Ashton. Harry & Helen
went to Sally Leas', Homewood &
Home to dinner. Eliza Green here
for advice etc. Afternoon man from
Roger Brooke's brought his wife and
had tooth extracted. Burned
out the East chimney & tried the west
one which would not burn. Cleaned
the revolvers. Ernest here to tea.
"All hands" (except Harriet & Willie)
went to the store through the storm to
the store to fix Christmas toys etc.
Annie Rounds washed for Harriet.

32o Snow & sleet N.W.
Tuesday 21st

Snowing all night & all day today,
but is not more than 8 inches
deep on a level in the woods & drifted
considerably in many places. I
drove to Ashton in the sleigh but was
afraid of the drifts & went on horseback
to Frederic Stablers's where I
dined. Afternoon I went to "Fulford"
and prescribed for Richard Lea
who is quite sick. Helen went
to "Sherwood" Harry taking her &
the baby over in his Jagger.

Wednesday 22nd 1880

Went in the sleigh to "Fulford" after
which I took Dora & Edward to
Ashton & Sandy Spring stores. Afternoon I
went to Frederic Stabler's. Fixed the
part of a set of double harness I got
from Harry. The sleighing is first
rate" where the track is well broken
and packed down. My horses make
a splendid sleigh team.

Thursday 23rd

Drove over to "Riverside" in the
sleigh taking Willie with me. Went
to Sandy Spring & Ashton. Afternoon
took Willie to Ashton & got him
a pair of boots and took Harriet
to Sherwood to call upon Mary
Roberts. Fixed the "dash" of the sleigh
to keep it from rattling. Jno Hall
(colored from Schofields) here to have
wound dressed in his son's head.
Prescribed for Lewis. from
Schooley's Mills at Ashton.
After tea Harry Lea, Charley, Ernest
and a party took some ladies out
sleighing. Jno Bentley called in
& directed some mail matter.
