"Quarterly Meeting Sunday"
I went to meeting & heard four
or five sermons which were good.
Afternoon Mr A.G. Mathews
called on his way home & took
Dora with them she intending
to go with Ida to Lincoln
Va: on tuesday. I walked
up to Henderson's. We had
a thunder gust pass around
near us giving us quite a
heavy shower of rain at
about 5.o'clock.

Quite cool early this morning
Bro's Richard & Charles & wife called
before "meeting". I went over to
the meeting house & heard a most
excellent sermon from John Cornell,
which I trust helped me.
Afternoon Edwd & two of the
boys next door drove over to
Riverside in the Surry to get
some cherries. I went as far as
Ashton with them & got some
carrot seed which we planted
with much care in two rows
across the garden; the south row
in which we planted "long orance"
seed. I spaded deep before planting,
and the north row in which
are planted "half long" was only
hoed & raked since it plowed.
The long orance seed was from
Dell Ferry & Co. and athe "half long"
"Landreths". both from Ashton.
