Snow & Rain
35 Ther. THURS. APRIL 28th, 1898 N.W. Wind.

The wind blew last night from
about 11.o'clk until near daylight
with great force, & this
morning it is snowing & raining
with the wind N.E. again.
the ground is covered with snow.
It continued snowing & raining
more or less all day. I went to the
P.O. & to "Fairall's shop, where I
saw Mr. F. Downey & engaged
some chestnut wood of him and
afternoon he sent us two cords of
chestnut wood. I walked to Ashton
& back. "Old John" called here.
After supper went again to the
P.O. & toll house. The weather
has been extremely disagreeable
and unusual for this time of year.
We were obliged to make a fire in
our bed room stove again, in order
to be at all comfortable.

Cloudy & Rain
40° Ther. FRI. APRIL 29th, 1898 Variable Wind

Still rainy & disagreeable
nearly all day Edwd & I rauked
up the wood sent by Mr. Downey.
Yesterday & Mr. Henderson & "Phil"
Robison measured it, & found "scant
one & a half cords
"; instead of two cords.
as it was intended to have been. I
went to the P.O. & to Fairall's shop and
afternoon to the Mill. Sally Ellicott
was here to see Dora. Towards evening
it seemed to clear off.
