52° Ther. FRI. MAY 6th, 1898. N.E. Wind

Rain & chilly & afternoon it rained
most of the time up to bed time.
Ida's "girl" "Ollie" recd a telegram
telling of her sisters illness & she was
wanted at home at once. Telephoned
to Willie & Edwd went & got Mrs Ellicott's
dayten upon which we put my
pole and Willie coming with "Sally", they
hitched her with "Charley" to dayten
& W started for "Hazeldean" with Ida
& family at 4-45 p.m. intending to
stay there all night. Ida & Dora went to
Ashton & back before dinner. Ellen Stabler
called this a.m. H. Fairall here
again in this evening. Frank Hopkins
was here for medicine for Kate Mathews.

Rainy day_
50° Ther. SAT. MAY 7th, 1898. N. E. Wind.

Still raining more or less all day.
I went to Fairall's shop & to store &
P.O. before & afternoon. also went
to Ashton & back before dinner.
Afternoon Willie came back
from "Hazeldean" where he staid
last night. Fanny came with
him, he having come to "Fairfield"
this morning: they remained
until after supper, when they
took Dora with them to spend
the night and attend church
tomorrow morning. After supper
I went to the toll house to hear
the official Report of Comadore
Dewey of the Manila victory
which it seems was complete over
that portion of the Spanish Navy.
