67° Ther. WED. JUNE 1st, 1898 N.W. Wind.

Another lovely early summer
day. Chas. Hill (of Remus) was here
for advice & medicine for his wife.
I rode the horse to Clark's shop
& had his front shoes reset.
Went to the store & P.O. & to Mill
for horse feed & corn meal.
After supper went to the store & to the
toll house. News of Schley's bombardment
of Santiago de Cuba
but reports are conflicting.

Cloudy & Clearing
66° Ther. THURS. JUNE 2, 1898 S.E. Wind.

Quite cloudy & threatning until
towards evening when it cleared off.
I was called by telephone & rode
on horseback to prescribe for Chas.
Hill (of Remus)'s wife. Cut grass at
Oldfield's and wheeled it home for the
horse. Rode over to F. Clark's shop. &
had off hind shoe removed on the
horse. Also had bolt made with
which to strengthen the split in
a locust tree back of the kitchen
door. After supper Willie & Fanny
called. I went to the toll house.
Have suffered with head ache
nearly all day. Edwd went over
to John C. Bentley's after supper to
spend the evening.
