Ther. 75o FRI. JULY 1st 1898 Wind N.W.
Very warm again in the sun
but a nice breeze from N.W.
makes it pleasant in the shade.
I went to the store & P.O. & to
A. F. Fairall's office & to mill
for flour. Auntie Hopkins was
here for advice & medicine for
her self & child, & brought me a
dollar from Emma June.
Dr A Stabler called & I went
with him to a meeting of the
"Doctors Club" at Dr Farquhars
we had a nice meeting
all present but Doctors Green
& Cissel.

Ther. 76 SAT. JULY 2d 1898. Wind N.W.
Last night was too hot for
sleep: decidely the hottest
night we have had this
summer. Afternoon I was
called to see C. Hurleban's infant
daughter who was threatened
with convulsions, in consequence
of indigestion & the extremely
hot weather, - together with
exposure to the hot sun.. After supper
I went to the store & P.O.
A heavy battle has fought
& is still in progress at Santiago
de Cuba: our troops were victorious
but at a heavy loss in killed and
wounded.
