Ther. 67 WED. JULY 13th, 1898 Wind
Rather warmer than yesterday
but still no rain, although it was
so threatening last night. After
breakfast Willie called on way to
"Oak Dale". "Lottie Tilly (a colored
girl from John Thomas) was here
for advice & medicine.
Afternoon Willie & Edwd
both went to Fairfield.
Helen Lea of "Spring Dale"
called to see Dora.

Ther. 70o THURS. JULY 14th, 1898 Wind
Edwd returned from "Fairfield"
bringing Alice Peirce with him.
Willie also came bringing Fanny
& the baby: they came to help
do some quilting for Charley
& Ida to replace bed clothing
destroyed by the fire.
We heard today of the
surrender of Santiago by the
Spanish troops. We to send the
Spaniard's back to Spain.
It rained some since noon,
but little more than to "lay
the dust". Willie & Alice went
back to "Fairfield" after supper
It has been very warm and
"close" all day & continues so
this evening. W & I went to the
toll house.
