Cloudy & Clearing
Ther. 75o MON. AUG 8th, 1898 Wind Variable
Weather hot again. Willie & Fanny
called on their way to Kensington
driving their horse and mine to
Edwd Bentley's "big carriage"
they are going to need a "Mrs Kline"
a friend of the "Homewood" cousins
and of Fanny's. I fear it will prove
a hard trip on the horses, & they may
be caught in a thunder gust.
Several storms passed North & south
of us and we had some rain.
Willie & party passed here in their
way home about 5-15 p.m.
Dr Magruder called for a few
minutes & left some papers for
me to read.

Cloudy & Showers
Ther. 75 TUES. AUG 9th, 1898 Wind Variable
It has been cloudy & showery
nearly all day and rained all
through last night. Willie came
to "Bloomfield" this morning to
bring E Bentley's carriage home
& get the surry: he called here
and at the mill & went back
before dinner. Afternoon I went
to "Fairall's" office to execute a
certificate of the death of George
Matthews, to enable his widow to
obtain aid from a society to which
he belonged in Washington D. C.
It is raining steadily this evening
and looks as though it might
rain all night again.
