Ther. 69o MON. AUG. 22d, 1898 Wind S.
Edwd came from "Fairfield" and
taking Esq. Fairall's buggy went to
Rockville (driving "Charley")
he went expecting to meet Dora
on her return from Va, and, also
to tune a piano for Mrs Jno Wilson
After he had gone I rec'd a telegram
from Charley at Purcellville
saying she would not come
today - I went to Ashton after
lunch. I finished fixing the
phaeton top. Willie & A Peirce
came in afternoon. Willie came
to see base ball game & to stay
all night. Alice went back to
"Fairfield". John Hickman's wife was
here to see me, also Frank Leizear
Jr. for a certificate of death of Geo.
Matthews. Edwd reached home
about 8. o'clk p.m.

Ther. 74o TUES. AUG 23, 1898 Wind S.
The heat has been more
oppressive to me than any we have
had. Willie took "Charley" horse to the
shop & had a shoe put on one of his
hind feet. after which he drove him
to "Fairfield". I went to the store
& P.O. and to Fairall's office.
Afternoon Alice Peirce called,
having brought Joshua Peirce
over to the afternoon stage.
After supper I went up to the
P.O. & mailed postal cards to the
members of the {"Physean's Club"?}.
called again at Esq Fairalls.
