Ther. 77o SAT. SEPT 3d, 1898 Wind S.E.
Edwd & I went in the surry to
Brighton to call upon my old friend
Thomas S. Stabler, who recently
returned from the Sheppard
Asylum near Towson in Balto. Co
he seems in exellent health and
spirits. We took Fanny & baby
as far as "Homewood" & left them
there. Afternoon Willie came
& spent an hour or two with us
going back to "Homewood" to tea.
I went to the P.O. the thermometer
stood at 92o on the store
porch in shade.

Edwd did not come home from
"Fairfield" until after lunch.
I went to "meeting". which was
"monthly" meeting . I{t} has been
extremely hot all day, I walked
down to Chas Porters and sat &
talked with him for an hour or
two: called at Henderson's as
I went down. I would have
staid at C Porters to tea, but
it looked so much like our
having a thunder - gust I came
home but the heavy clouds
seemed to "melt away", but after
supper a thunder gust passed
south of us and we may have
one before tomorrow morning.
