Ther. 72o WED. SEPT. 7th, 1898 Wind Variable
Still hot. I drove to Ashton and
back, after which Edwd drove his
sister over to "Riverside". Walter
Iddings called & brought a note
containing money from "Minnie"
R. Iddings. I sent two dollars
to Levi Webster (blacksmith) for his
boy. About 3. o'clk afternoon the wind
changed to N.W., and blew quite haed
accompanied with rain, which
continued for some time, thre was
some thunder & lightening also:
the change in temperature was
very marked, as well as agreeable
from 85o to 75, in two hours,
a strong breeze from N.W. makes it
feel quite chilly. Edwd & Dora
came home to supper. & in the evening
Edwd rode over to John Bentley's to
take W's violin to John and from there
he rode to "Sharon" to another dancing
party.

Ther. 62o THURS. SEPT. 8th, 1898 Wind N.W. & N.E.
Quite cool last night and this
morning. There was doubtless a
severe storm or cyclone somewhere
to the N.W. of us yesterday, which
we escaped but which has broken
the "hot spell". Afternoon E went
to "Fairfield" & brought Alice Peirce
Willie & Fanny came soon after,
in time for supper. Soon after
supper Willie & Fanny drove over
to "Mt. Airy" to a "Lawn Party", given for
the benefit of some philanthropic
cause. Dora, Alice Peirce & Edwd
& Miss Mary Fowler walked over.
There are to be ameatuer theatrical
performances, in which
our chidren take part, including
W & Fanny, the latter taking
a prominent part. I walked up
to the mill. Testimony was taken
today before Allen Farquhar in a
law case in Va. Gaither v.s. Rollins.
