Ther. 48o THURS. OCT. 13th, 1898 Wind S.E.
Quite cool this morning, we had
fire in the dining room. Old
John brought my saddle home
John thronton came & took Mrs
Ellicott's preserves home
Edwd drove up to "Fairfield" to
take some weaving work up to
Willie left here by Geo Miller's
wife. Afternoon i walked down to
Ashton & back. Rec'd a letter from
Herbert Kirk announcing his
engagement to "Bessie" Rust. expecting
to be married "next" month. Wrote
to him in reply & mailed it after
dark.

Cloudy & Rain
Ther. 55o FRI. OCT 14th, 1898 Wind N.E. & S.E.
It was raining this morning and
continued until afternoon when it
cleared off. Edwd drove over to
"Rock Spring" to tune a piano for the
Farquhar's he went in the phaeton &
came home about 5. o'clk p.m.
Willie Fanny & baby came to tea
& to spend the night. After supper
they walked down to "Bloomfield"
to call upon Edith Sache's and
Mary kummer who came there
this afternoon. I am suffering
with the worst cold I have had
for a long time & feel "wretched"
