Ther. 40o MON. OCT. 17th, 1898 Wind E.
The first real frost this morning
except in a few places in low
ground. I went to the P.O. and to
Fairall's office. Rect letter from
sister Harriet proposing her coming
to spend the winter with us.
Laura B call came & had a tooth
extracted. Afternoon Lizzie Scott
was here to see Dora & this morning
Kate Stabler called.
Towards evening I went to the
bakers for some bread & c

Cloudy & Rain
Ther. 50o TUES. OCT. 18th, 1898 Wind NE & S.E.
Cloudy & threatening all forenoon
and towards evening it began to
rain & blow a gale from E. & S.E.
which continued up to bedtime.
"Jim" Hills wife "Eleza" brought her
little boy to the office for advice
& medicine for "sore throat". I went
to the store & P.O. Afternoon I went
to the pasture & brought the horse
home to the stable. Mailed letter
to sister Harriet in answer to one
received yesterday. It threatens
to be a very stormy night & will
doubtless cause disaster on the
sea coast to shipping.
